2022-D quarter: Mint error or damage?
Proper Titles Are Important, so I had to fix yours for you!
Titles are indexed on the forum so others can find/research when they have a similar coin.
Titles must include date, type of coin and a specific small description of your question. [/u]
So we can better help you,

I found this in some change I got from the store. I noticed some marks on the rim and on the obverse face and reverse face. At first I thought it was just damage from circulation but when I used a jewelers eye I believe I matched up part if the design on the rim to the coin design. Can you please tell me if I have a coin worth something or if it's not. It's a new Nina Ottero-Warren 2022 D washington quarter.

This is Post Mint Damage. Nothing in the minting process can cause this.

Re: Mint error or damage?
Welcome to the community.
I agree, this happened after the coin left the mint.

The rim pic I posted shows part of the flowers from the reverse side. Both the obverse and reverse sides have parts of their designs on the rim of the same size. I have other pics of different parts of the rim that match the designs. Or you can just enlarge the pic with the full coin and see the elements on the rim. They match up with parts of the obverse and reverse sides.
Re: Mint error or damage?
The coin has partial circles where the die hit the coin in three different places.
Re: Mint error or damage?
I hope I'm posting these and not messaging. I'm not trying to break the rules. Now about the coin, if someone could look at the parts of the rim real close on both sides there are elements from the same side on the rim. If anyone can just tell me if it did have elements on the rim would it be worth anything and if so what would it be worth? Or how much would I ask for? Oh! And thank you for letting me in the group and for the greetings.

Re: Mint error or damage?
as what is already being said, this post mint damage, nothing in the minting process can cause this. This is just a common quarter which is worth it's face value.TB6969 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 1:26 am I hope I'm posting these and not messaging. I'm not trying to break the rules. Thank you for your expertise and I don't want to should like I think you're mistaken but if it wasn't done at the mint may I ask how it would be don't after minting? I just don't understand how it could be done. And again I'm not try to insult you or anything. I'm just curious.

Re: Mint error or damage?
It really doesn't matter. The coin is Damaged after being "Struck". It couldn't happen any other time following this process but after leaving the Mint. Hence the term> Post Mint Damage. I hope this sheds better light on the subject. It's a "spender" in my opinion. Have a Great weekend!TB6969 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 2:37 am Thank you for your expertise and I don't want to should like I think you're mistaken but if it wasn't done at the mint may I ask how it would be don't after minting? Re: Mint error or damage?
I agree, it is damaged by contact and we do see all the marks you’re seeing on the coin. However what you think is going on with this coin isn’t how it would look like if it happened at the mint.

I had to correct your title so it would be meaningful for the forum's search function.
