1997 penny possible doubling on the letters? MD? | DDD? | something worth my time?

This penny I found in a roll that I thought looked weird from just my plain eye sight not even under the microscope which made me question is this doubling of some type? This to me was not MD because the doubling of the letters was far larger then other MD's i have seen which made me question it. So, please tell me if this is worth something or just in general what it is thanks.

I agree. You can find this explained at error-ref.com. Search for "die deterioration doubling."

This looks more like a plating issue to me…
