1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Altered or forged cents
Is it illegal to post pictures of suspected altered or fake coins on this forum or on the internet? Maybe I’m using the wrong search words but I can’t seem to find any here or online. I would appreciate seeing actual pictures. I’ve read enough about the history of the Lincoln cent and visited enough websites. I really would like to see pictures of altered or forged cents. Can someone please help? Thanks!

Re: Altered or forged cents
Yes, unless the intent is to show that yes, it was altered or faked (forged).

Re: Altered or forged cents
There's one big problem with posting them on the Internet......

Hmmm, I seem to have no problems finding such images online.

No. Unless you are trying to scam someone and sell the fake by posting its' picture. Then you are breaking the law.Is it illegal to post pictures of suspected altered or fake coins on this forum or on the internet?
IN the US, the only way you can be breaking the law with a fake is if you are intentionally trying to spend/sell one and deceive people, or if you are making them without the word copy or replica on them.
In Canada it is illegal to even own one.

Re: Altered or forged cents
Thanks everyone for your help.
Daniel your website about doubled coins was very insightful.
The error.com website really cleared some of the issues I was having with my coins. It’s a relief to know I don’t have a bunch of useless coins. They’re at least good for the copper whenever it becomes legal to melt coins.
I do have one coin that is confusing me. I checked the Wexler’s and the closest category I think it belongs in is the UFO. I will post pics in the errors board. Thanks again.
