2007 Wyoming P Quarter grease?

#1 Unread post by MycoinQs »

I have seen another post about this coin similar to my coin. On my coin there appears to be an imprint next to the horse that is sunken into the metal. On the obverse there is also an imprint to the left of Washington’s mouth and on his face and neck as well. I don’t have the best photos but they are clear enough to see what I am talking about. The neck will be the least clear but the image on the back is very clear. There is also an imprint of the horse’s leg as well. I have never come across this before where the image is actually sunken into the metal. Any insight would be appreciated.

Looks like it was struck through something. More common than you think. In my opinion.

This appears to be "Struck Through Goop", and is not recessed into the coin.

Thanks for the reply but it is recessed into the coin because I have the coin and when I touch the coin it is recessed in the grease area. I can feel the ridge and the greased area sits lower in the metal on the reverse.

Not to be a stick in the mud, but the OP says he can feel it is recessed.

Paul...while I understand from a previous post you said struck through goop is upon the surface of the coin, could it be this goop was tough enough to impress into the coin surface?

If the specimen was properly imaged for this type of anomaly, I believe you would agree with my assessment.

My name is Jennifer and this is my coin. I do not have another camera besides my cell phone camera and I tried to take the best pictures possible with my phone. It is recessed without any doubt. I can feel the dip in the metal and that is all I can say. I’m just trying to figure out what this is exactly. It does not sit above the metal and it is in the shape of the horse. There is also an impression of the horse’s leg as well. I would take it to someone locally but I do not know of anyone in my area who could look at my coin in person. I am in Maryland not too far from Delaware. There may be someone in Delaware who would be able to help me. I do appreciate you all and I am glad this website exists. It is a great help to me.
