1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Our community is not a soap box for complaining or drama, so please refrain from doing so here.[/size]

1937d Nickel Value
This is my first post of this type so I hope I am within forum boundaries. As some of you know I am helping a friend liquidate his collection and am starting with the nickels. I have 4 shields, 12 Liberties, 154 Indian heads, 84 War and 509 Jeffersons (non-war). I will be taking these to a Roundtable Trading affiliated dealer next week. As I was going through these there were a few that caught my eye and I wanted to get an opinion on value. I've looked through the red book and guess I'm trying to validate what I am learning. The first coin is a 1937d nickel that is an AU-50? Value $10. Am I close? Thank you in advance for looking at this.

Re: 1937d Nickel Value
Through the images, I say this coin is high grade VF, possibly cleaned.
U.S. cent lover!

JTCC, thanks for the comment. I adjusted the lighting a bit and this seems to be a little clearer. Probably won't affect opinion. Thanks.

Ditto.
BTW...remember the Red Book gives you a price of what you would expect to pay...not necessarily what it would sell for.

Re: 1937d Nickel Value
Nuts. Thanks Daniel, Earle and Paul. I know the red book is a guide and it ultimately comes down to supply and demand.

Re: 1937d Nickel Value
Supply and demand are an issue, but I believe "Desirability" is a key factor in collecting…JMO

I agree...as in all hobbies.
You can own a one f a kind object, but if the desirability is not there, it's not worth much except the appreciation you have for it..
