1979-D Lincoln - what error even is this?

#1 Unread post by Jastephens97 »

Missing a lot of stuff here. Confused as to what type of coin I have here, and researching has led to no avail besides maybe a “die creep” or a “peripheral die expansion”. Any help highly appreciated

This appears to be a dryer coin instead of a mint error.

What is “spooned”? I don’t have the coin yet, it’s in transit. I bought it for 20$. I was thinking I guess it’s a good lesson to learn about “dryer” coins. Feel like an idiot if that’s the case. I can send the diameter in a couple days. Really felt like there was something here!!

Looking at the pics and zooming them I believe the mushy details do show a dryer coin.

Go to error-ref.com and search for dryer coin. Scroll down a little and take the link there to see a lot of extreme dryer coins.
