Kennedy Half double die obverse

#1 Unread post by banjotx »

Found this in circulation a number years ago and always thought this 1974 D Kennedy had a double die obverse mostly seen in the TRUST and 74.
Any opinions of this and possible value? I had it marked $15.00 in a coin holder.

I love the JFK coins. I will let others to pronounce but for me it is very close. I think you look for FS-101 I will attaché (PCGS photo) here the 7 markers of 101. What I have in my collection I can not compare because it is complete other stage. I question the R, T and Y in Liberty. Also I suggest to compare with : https://www.doubleddie.com/2345637.html From the photos (are nice) I can not discern.

I agree - take the link and compare.

If you do not find an EXACT match to your coin listed using this easy method, then you most likely have a damaged coin or other issues like (non collectable) machine doubling, die deterioration doubling, etc. (look these up at error-ref.com)

Please provide large, clear, cropped images of the coin in question, both obverse and reverse.
Does appears to be the 1974-D DDO-001 FS-101. Nice find!

Yes - this is a DDO. Nice find! Look on ebay for SOLD auctions of same coin in same condition for an idea of value.

And...just in case you would ask...no, it is not worth getting slabbed since the the cost of slabbing this one would be more than the value of the coin.
