1896 United Kingdom Onne Penny
I am struggling finding this coin in reference books or the Web. This coin is listed as being made from Bronze. This coin looks and acts like Silver. It goes down my silver slide like a morgan dollar. It has the Victoria drapped obverse and the Britannia seated right like a normal bronze coin. It weighs 8.59 g, it is 30.69 MM in diameter, 1.43 MM thick at the rim. Does anyone know if this is an error, or a coins I just can't find a reference for?
These Pictures are deceiving, they look brown (bronze) but in real life they are silver like a morgan dollar. i will take another pictire in natural light tomorrow.
i will take any and all help.
Thank you in advance.

Both copper and silver are paramagnetic which explains why it slides slowly.
Looking up the weight tolerances of this issue and then finding the weight of your coin will likely verify it as (environmentally toned) bronze.

It also looks like it was cleaned sometime in the past hence the hairline scratches.

Looks like a normal circulated coin that has been polished and retoned oddly.

Most certainly environmental damaged and cleaned, the nearly gram difference in the weight is from 75 years of circulation.

Worldwide C,
I use that website a lot. Even the last pic i posted makes the coin appear bronze. In my hand it looks a lot different. I almont think somone rubbed this coin with something trying to change its appearance. Make it look like silver. I was confused by it until posting on this site.
I love coming here to get the truth!
Thanks to you, and All
