2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.

4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. 1975 D LINCOLN CENT New Error found?
Hi I come across a 1975 D Lincoln cent that I believe is a misplaced Mint mark. I have been through thousands of pennies and have never found one like this for this date. Please would love your opinion and if it is a new find where should I send it? Thanks so much for your help

This is not a misplaced mintmark. Please got to> https://www.error-ref.com/misplaced-min ... 0the%20die.
This mintmark has taken a hit. Mintmark is slightly off do to the fact that Mintmarks were hand punched into the die this year.

So if it has taken a hit does this then not make it an error? Not worth anything? Also, are there more coins out there that are the same way as this coin? I read the misplaced coin into you sent me but you really did not explain a whole lot about what I have. Is there an article on what I do have I can read about> ?Thank you of your info and time.

Greetings, As Sal and Paul had pointed out for you the placement being Off looking is explained by their explanation that the mint marks were hand punch on earlier coins.Kimbo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 2:19 am So if it has taken a hit does this then not make it an error? This practice ended in 1989 on business struck coins and 1985 on Proof coins, its very common to see a difference within a group of coins of the same year, you can also read this article
