I bought a roll of 1959 P wheat penny in a tube that had a very old-looking seal.
After going through all 50, I noticed that 13 of 50 had a similar looking date; 1 and 9 in particular.
Just for the comparison, rest of the roll had a regular looking 1959 date, as shown on the last picture.

Re: 1959 P Wheat Penny - Date
Greetings, these are what is called Die Chips, hard to tell on the 1 but it appears to be. This is actually very common to find many of the same Die chips in rolls of early coins, especiallyhappyoreo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 9:53 pm I bought a roll of 1959 P wheat penny in a tube that had a very old-looking seal.

Pennies. I found 9 of the "Skirted R" in liberty in one OBW I designated the anomaly as 1960-D-LDB5, put them in flips, sleeved them and moved on. There is no added value in this but some like myself may keep them as an Oddity example. here are a couple of resources to checkout on this subject.
