Nerva. 96-98 AD. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.23 gm, 6h). Struck 97 AD. Obv:. IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR P II COS III P P, Laur. head of Nerva to right. Rev: CONCORDIA EXERCITVVM Clasped hands. RIC 26,RSC 22. Light scratches on and to right of Nerva's neck and on the reverse.

Amazing how something that has gone through so many years of history can be in such good condition!

Thanks for posting the pics! This denarius ("Agreement of the Armies") is a great example of how emperors used coinage to support their own positions and spread propaganda. Nerva was in a precarius position with the Legions when he came into power. These coins were likely struck concurrently with Nerva making a donative to the soldiers to encourage their loyalty.
