1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Ike Dollar PCGS submission question
Good afternoon. I have a 1972 type 2 that is like to submit for grading. It's probably AU. Does anyone know, will PCGS recognize a type 2 under the modern value submission type? Or would this be considered a variety? Thanks

Re: Ike Dollar PCGS submission question
I know it's a type 2 I was just asking if anyone knew PCGS submission rules/standards regarding this issue. The picture was the only one I had on hand of the coin.Earle42 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 8:29 pm Please review the forum rules for making a post to the forum and make sure to follow them in the future so we can better help you with your questions:

Re: Ike Dollar PCGS submission question
I recommend calling PCGS's customer service for help like this. These companies often change their rules.

You call them, it's much faster. I honestly can't remember but I think it's must be submitted as a variety.

Re: Ike Dollar PCGS submission question
Update: Just talked to them at PCGS. They said it's considered a major variety and it can be submitted under modern value and it will be recognized as a type 2. Thanks again to everyone.

Re: Ike Dollar PCGS submission question
Now that's a nice Ike! One of my favorite series for honoring a true American president, for honoring the moon landing, and for the little "easter eggs" Frank Gasparro is said to have put on them.
He is said to have put a re-rentry trail for the Apollo 13 rocket above the moon at the 10:00 position on the Earth on the Friendly Eagle variety for 1971, a golfer on a 71 and 72 by his initials on the REV, and a golf flag by the initials on later ikes (sorry don't know the dates). There is debate whether this is all pareidolia, but here is a pic of my Ike with what the Ike Group called the golfer making a putt (Alan Shepard hit a golf ball on the moon):
And here is a pic of the later golf flag by the initials that is seen on some later Ikes. This is not mine (do not know dates):
