1928 Canadian small cent
I have never sent a coin in for grading. This one I think might be worthy. Can I get an estimated grade? I have a similar 1928 NGC 64. This looks better to me, maybe...

Re: 1928 Canadian small cent
Hello and Welcome. We cannot clearly and precisely even give you an estimate but something tells me your coin is more in the AU Details category. The coin looks slightly cleaned based on what I can see of the Obverse .
I could be totally wrong. Keep us up to date. Good luck. Personally I would NOT send this for grading unless I felt it was a high MS coin.

I cannot tell, since the picture is angled, if I see cleaning lines or not b/c the details get fuzzy the farther from the camera they were.
Try taking OBV and REV pics directly over the top of the coin to alleviate this.

Here are pics of NGC 64. I know grading is subjective, but in my opinion the ungraded looks better. One of my concerns are the small rim dings. But maybe the 64 is over graded. Thank you for the reply, I think it will sit in the collection as is until I aquire a couple others I feel perhaps worthy.
Re: 1928 Canadian small cent
The top pop is 65. That is what intrigues me. I bought this coin for $13.67. A 65 is valued at 1700. A sp 65 is 2700. I live in Michigan, and started collecting at 8. My 8 yr old budget was drawn to Canadian cents. Everyone knew the values of U.S. coins, but a little bit of knowledge gave me an edge purchasing Canadian small cents. Thanks for the replies! The problem with Canadian small cents is trying to sell, but I just like filling my box with good ones.

Re: 1928 Canadian small cent
Thanks. If I get it graded there is a good chance I will lose the possibility I maintain in my mind, of maybe. There's that chance it has been cleaned, and perhaps I don't want to know.

Re: 1928 Canadian small cent
Very nice coins!
Is the band of the crown as weak as the last set of pics make it appear?
As to cleaning, the lines I thought might be parallel lines from it being rubbed/brushed are not in the last pictures. The pictures remind me of an improper alloy mix. Pictures are hard to be definite with and I am not sure if this has been cleaned or it just toned this way over time?

Re: 1928 Canadian small cent
Yes, the band seems to be a common weak strike area. I have seen better bands on some ef coins than some ms. Thanks for your time, and opinion, the dream lives on. These coins are also known for a wood grain appearance. I will continue my search for a couple more hopefulls. The search is half the fun. Here I get to see others finds too, and learn.
