2014 Lincoln Shield Cent die crack?

#1 Unread post by GraCJoy »

While going through my husband's change jar, I came across this penny. The line across the head at Lincoln's eye level is raised up, so I don't think it's a scratch, but I'm just not sure.

This may be just a linear plating issue/bubbles. See if it sinks when you push on it with a toothpick. That would be a (common) plating issue.

You can also look that term up on error-ref.com for more info.

It doesn't sink when touched with a toothpick, at least to my eyes.

I would need better Pics. from side angle possibly. It may just be just too hard to sink in.

I am willing to accept the possibility that this is just a plating bubble, but like I said, it just doesn't move when touched with a toothpick. Here is the best picture I could get of it.

This is not a die crack but a plating issue.

Sorry I was not more explicit when I told you to try the toothpick. SOME plating blisters will sink. I was just mentioning a test that might work. I should have been more precise.
