Mystery designation of 2009 pennies at coppercoins

#1 Unread post by musospuso »

Found myself searching through coppercoins database and ran across a designation/label/acronym I didn't understand. Take a look at this link:

http://coppercoins.com/diesearch.php?da ... 009&page=0

Look at the description and you'll notice a designation label after the series name: (LP1) (LP2) (LP4) etc.

What do those mean? The same design (Early Childhood for example) can have more than one of those designations.

Lincoln Penny? Less Polish? What does it mean man?!

Yea, Lincoln penny sounds good. It must refer to their design.

There are 4 kinds of 2009 pennies honoring the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln. These designations you see are for the different reverse designs that were minted :ugeek:

I did not know that, wow that's awesome! Just one more thing to pick through. As it is those pennies are terribly scarce going through rolls at least in this part of the country.
